Graduate Learning Outcome Reports

All graduate programs at Oregon State University report annually on their Graduate Learning Outcomes in an assessment report. These reports are due to Assessment and Accreditation in the Fall of 2023. Program Learning Outcomes need to be consistent across all locations and modalities. The Faculty Senate approved Graduate Learning Outcomes are listed below. 

LEARNING OUTCOMES FOR PH.D. DEGREE PROGRAMS STATE THAT THE STUDENT SHALL:

  1. Produce and defend an original significant contribution to knowledge.
  2. Demonstrate mastery of subject material.
  3. Conduct scholarly activities in an ethical manner.

LEARNING OUTCOMES FOR MASTER'S DEGREE PROGRAMS STATE THAT THE STUDENT SHALL:

  1. Conduct research or produce some other form of creative work.
  2. Demonstrate mastery of subject material.
  3. Conduct scholarly or professional activities in an ethical manner.

The assessment reports are evaluated by the Assessment and Accreditation staff using the Graduate Assessment Report Evaluation Rubric 2023.

Graduate Assessment Reporting Changes

  • Changed the due date for all undergraduate and graduate assessment reports (unless accredited college requests otherwise) to November 1, 2023. 
  • Required standalone minors to complete assessment reports.  
  • Required graduate programs to report GLOs across all campuses and modalities. 
  • Reports included data from Summer 2021, Fall 2021, Winter 2022, Spring 2022 AND Summer 2022, Fall 2022, Winter 2023, Spring 2023.
