In Fall 2021, OSU began using the Student Learning Experience survey for all eligible courses. See the new questions here. The questions will continue to be refined until they are formally adopted by the Faculty Senate (likely in Spring 2022). Student feedback will be gathered through the survey system. Instructor feedback will be solicited through a Qualtrics poll distributed by the Faculty Senate.
Former eSET questions Q1 and Q2 will continue to be included in the SLE survey until new processes for using reports is available.
Multiple survey formats were piloted during Fall 2020 and Winter 2021. The Faculty Senate chose to move forward with a student experience survey linked to the Quality Teaching Framework at their June 2021 meeting.
On May 14, 2020, the Faculty Senate voted to use modified questions for the Spring 2020 and Summer 2020 electronic Student Evaluation of Teaching (eSETs) to accommodate the rapid change to distance education. The required questions for each course are:
In Summer 2020, the new questions and previous standard questions were both included, as the summer sessions do not allow for instructor added questions.
A new report has been created for Spring 2020 to collect signed student comments for administrative use. Please see the report instructions.
The Faculty Senate and the Provost’s Office have decided to close administrative access to all eSET and SLE reports for AY 21 (Summer 2020, Fall 2020, Winter 2021, Spring 2021) plus Summer 2021, Fall 2021, and Winter 2022 to accommodate the unusual circumstances. Individual instructors may print reports for their classes and share them with their unit administrators for promotion, tenure, or hiring processes.
